Edit a custom theme
In the theme library, find your custom theme and tap Edit. Adjust the main background and use Text Color Preview to check the text color. The optional Duo image has its own section.
Open the Save menu and choose Save to keep your changes, or Save & Apply to use the updated theme immediately.
Add or remove a separate Duo background
- Edit your custom theme and find iPhone Duo Image (Optional).
- Tap Choose Duo Image from Photos or Choose Duo Image from Files, then select an image.
- Check the full-image preview. In the fully open Duo view, the entire image is shown. Empty space may appear if the image and window have different proportions.
- Use the Save menu to save your changes or save and apply the theme.
To return to one background, tap Remove Duo Image in the same section, then save. With one image, your theme keeps its usual crop on every display. When you create an iCloud backup, both custom-theme images are included and can be restored with the theme.
Understand the last successful backup date
Backup & Restore shows Last Successful Backup for backups completed from this device. After updating, the date begins tracking with the next successful backup.
This date does not discover earlier backups or show backups made from another device. No successful backup recorded on this device does not mean there is no PinPic backup in iCloud. The status records completed backups; it does not turn on automatic backups.
Open Control Center while viewing a photo
Briefly opening Control Center preserves a photo or location chooser that is already displayed. Returning after PinPic has been in the background still refreshes location matching.
Choose a location photo with a tap
In the location editor, tap the photo preview to open the photo picker. The existing photo-selection control remains available.
Open the PinPic website from the app
Use the website link in Help/About to open the PinPic website in your browser.
Why does PinPic request location access?
PinPic uses precise location while the app is in use to determine whether you are within the matching radius of a saved place. You can revoke access in device Settings; manual location entry and editing remain available.
How can I add an image or PDF page?
Choose a photo with Apple’s system photo picker, take a new photo, or choose an image file or PDF from Files. For a PDF, PinPic lets you select one page to display. PinPic imports and stores only a private image copy of your selection; it does not request access to your entire photo library. Camera permission is requested only if you choose to take a new photo.
Where are my locations and photos stored?
They are stored in PinPic’s private app storage on your device. If you explicitly choose Back Up Now, PinPic stores one current backup in the private CloudKit database associated with your iCloud account.
What does Face ID protect?
PinPic can use Apple’s device authentication to protect access to configuration features. The app receives only the success or failure result and never receives or stores biometric data or your passcode.
How do I restore a backup?
Open Settings in PinPic and choose Cloud Backup & Restore. A restore replaces the current PinPic locations, private photo copies, active and custom themes, theme images, Appearance, Liquid Glass, Arrival Alerts, and per-location settings with the contents of the available backup, so review the confirmation carefully.
How do I remove a saved location?
Use the delete control for that location inside PinPic. If its photo is shared with another location, PinPic preserves the private photo; an image is removed only when no saved location still uses it.
How do I share one photo between locations?
When adding or editing a location, choose Use Existing PinPic Photo to reuse a private photo already stored in PinPic. A shared photo is stored once. When replacing it, you can update every linked location or replace it only for the current location, which makes that location independent.
How do I choose Light or Dark appearance?
Use the Appearance control in Settings. Choose Dark when using a darker-toned theme so page text remains readable. Your choice is included when you create an iCloud backup.
What should I do if Arrival Alerts stop working?
In PinPic Settings, turn Arrival Alerts off and then on again to reinitialize notifications and the Always Allow background-location configuration. Also confirm the requested notification and location permissions in iOS Settings.
